Our Brief History
In January 2008, six passionate bloggers came together at a coffee shop in General Santos City, united by a shared goal: to change how General Santos and Region 12 (SoCCSKSarGen) were perceived online. At the time, a simple Google search about the area yielded mostly negative news and unflattering images.
Determined to rewrite that narrative, we formed the SoCCSKSarGen Bloggers—later affectionately called Sox Bloggers—and began our journey of showcasing the region’s untapped potential.
Our Drive
Our mission was simple yet powerful: to highlight the developmental progress, cultural richness, and natural beauty of General Santos and its surrounding areas.
Guided by our motto, “If you blog it, they will come,” we sought to use blogging as a platform to inspire interest, promote tourism, and foster economic growth in the region.
Over time, more bloggers joined our cause, with the majority coming from General Santos City. Together, we used the growing power of the internet to amplify the region’s stories. Through blog posts, articles, and other digital content, we helped attract attention to SoCCSKSarGen as a destination for travelers, investors, and entrepreneurs.
Our Achievements (so far)
Our efforts have not gone unnoticed. Over the years, the Sox Bloggers have earned major accolades from prestigious organizations such as the Philippine Blog Awards, Mindanao Blog Awards, the Department of Tourism, Google Business Group, Google Local Guides, Smart, Globe, and many others.
In 2018, on its 10th anniversary, the Sox Bloggers was given a recognition by the City Council of General Santos City through Resolution No. 92 s 2018 for its significant contribution in showcasing the best of General Santos City and SOCCSKSARGEN to the world.
The advent of social media further strengthened our resolve, allowing them to expand their reach and adapt to new ways of sharing stories. We have remained steadfast in our mission: to highlight the vibrant culture, thriving industries, and scenic beauty of General Santos and the entire SoCCSKSarGen region.
Our Commitment
The Sox Bloggers remain true to our commitment to the community. They pledge to mentor and inspire a new generation of bloggers, equipping them with the tools and skills needed to continue their mission.
